Rescheduled Scheme Dates
Issued: 13 March 2024

This scheme is now scheduled to take place between 7.30pm on Friday 22nd March and 6.30am on Monday 25th March.

The traffic management diversion route will remain the same as previously advertised.

Amey is undertaking surfacing improvements to a section of the A96 Forres bypass between Friday 2nd February and Wednesday 7th February.

The £278,000 project, which Amey is carrying out on behalf of Transport Scotland, will address defects on more than 500 metres of A96 road surface.

The work will be undertaken on both single and dual carriageway sections of the A96 between Greshop Roundabout and west of A940 Market Street.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the essential maintenance will be carried out using a full weekend road closure from 7.30pm on Friday 2nd February until 6.30am on Monday 5th February.

Whilst it is anticipated that the works will be completed during the weekend closure, there may be additional works overnight on Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th February. If necessary these works will be carried out using temporary traffics lights or convoy working.

During the closure traffic will be diverted as follows:

Westbound traffic will turn left onto A940 Market Street and take the third exit at the roundabout onto B9011 Nairn Road to rejoin the A96 at Greshop Roundabout.

Eastbound traffic will take the route in reverse.

Light traffic for Benromach Way and Waterford Industrial Estate will leave the A96 at Findhorn Roundabout (with eastbound traffic having followed the above diversion), taking the B9011 north and turning left after the railway bridge towards Waterford Road.

Traffic from south of Forres wishing to head east towards Elgin will follow the A940 north and turn right onto Orchard Road. Traffic can then follow South Street and turn right onto the High Street and follow Victoria Road to join the A96 at Findhorn Roundabout.

The resurfacing will benefit more than 11,400 vehicles who use this route each day, creating a smoother ride for motorists and reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
