Amey are undertaking a £540,000 project delivering two road surface improvement schemes back to back on two sections of the A96 near Huntly.

Resurfacing will be carried out overnight on two stretches of the A96 near Bin Forest, north of Huntly, consecutively between Monday 5th December and Thursday 15th December.

The two schemes are being carried out together in order to minimise disruption for residents, businesses and the travelling public.

The essential maintenance will be completed under overnight convoy between 7.30pm-6am on the following two sections of road:

Scheme One: Monday 5th to Monday 12th December – traffic management removed by 6am on Tuesday 13th December.
Approximately 900 metres of the A96 carriageway, from 390 metres north of the Bin Forest Walks to 560 metres north of the Drumdelgie junction.

Scheme Two: Tuesday 13th to Wednesday 14th December – traffic management removed by 6am on Thursday 15th December.
Approximately 496 metres of the A96 carriageway, from 390 metres north of the B9022 to 530 metres south of the Bin Forest Walks.

There will also be daytime lane closures using Temporary Traffic Lights (TTLs) to facilitate the cooling of deeper sections of treatment.

Access to and from the Drumdelgie junction will be restricted at times during scheme one. Local diversions will be in place via the A920.

Our operatives follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the current Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
