M8 Junction 17 | Vehicle Restraint System Upgrades

M8 Junction 17
14th of September 2025, 8:00pm to 7th of October 2025, 6:00am

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential VRS upgrades on the A82 Great Western Road overbridge at the M8 Junction 17 from Sunday 14th September until Tuesday 7th October 2025 between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night.

This work will require overnight closures on the A82 Great Western Road overbridge, as well as closures of the M8 Junction 17 off-slip to the A82 Great Western Road.

Northbound A82 Great Western Road traffic will be directed to follow Garscube Road, Maryhill Road and the A804 St George’s Road to re-join the A82 Great Western Road.

Southbound A82 Great Western Road traffic will take the above diversion route in reverse.

Traffic wishing to use the M8 Junction 17 off-slip to the A82 Great Western Road will be directed to follow A804 St George’s Road and join the A82 from there.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety of the carriageway in this location.

Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
