M8 and M77 Glasgow | Gantry Refurbishments

M8 and M77 Glasgow
30th of October 2026, 8:00pm to 29th of November 2026, 6:00am

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential gantry refurbishments on the M8 and M77 in Glasgow from Friday 30th October until Saturday 28th November 2026. The works will take place overnight between the hours of 8pm and 6am under full carriageway closures on the nights detailed below, with signed diversions in place.

M8 westbound, Junction 27 to Junction 28: Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October
Westbound traffic will be diverted at Junction 27 via Renfrew Road, Weir Street, Old Sneddon Street, St James Street, Caledonia Street and the A726 Greenock Road northbound to rejoin the A737 at St James Interchange.

M77 northbound, Junction 1 to M8 Junction 22 eastbound: Thursday 5th and Friday 6th November

Northbound traffic will be diverted at Junction 1 via Dumbreck Road to rejoin the M8 eastbound at the Junction 23 on-slip.

M8 westbound, Junction 15 to Junction 16: Thursday 12th and Friday 13th November
Westbound traffic will be diverted via Castle Street, Baird Street, North Hanover Street, Cowcaddens Road and West Graham Street to rejoin the M8 westbound at Junction 17.

M77 southbound, Junction 1 to Junction 2: Friday 27th and Saturday 28th November
Southbound traffic will be diverted at Junction 1 via Dumbreck Road, Haggs Road, Pollokshaws Road, Barrhead Road and Fairchild Avenue to rejoin the M77 at the Junction 2 on-slip.

These closures are required to remove the gantries from the network for refurbishment. Further closures will be required in the new year to re-erect the gantries, and details of these will be issued in early 2027.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained on the first night of each closure. On the second night at each location, emergency service vehicles will be required to follow the signed diversion.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
