UPDATE (02/04/25): These works are to be extended beyond the originally planned end date of Tuesday 8th April.
Further overnight work will now take place from Wednesday 9th April to Monday 21st April to complete the scheme.
The extended work will be undertaken using overnight lane closures only, between 8pm and 6am, to minimise disruption.
All roads entering and exiting Halbeath Roundabout, as well as the roundabout itself, will have lane closures on them.
The reason for the extension is that low temperatures and wet weather has led to a delay in construction progress. This has resulted in the need for an extended construction programme.
The resurfacing phase of major works on Halbeath Roundabout at Dunfermline is due to begin under a full weekend contraflow from Friday 14th March.
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking an £800,000 investment to upgrade a range of different road infrastructure at the roundabout.
As well as resurfacing of the roundabout circulatory, the works programme includes renewal of bridge joints, upgrades to traffic signals and road markings, as well as the introduction of intelligent road studs.
The next phase will include both resurfacing and bridge joint work under the following traffic management:
Weekend Contraflow on the roundabout/Slip Road Closures
- Friday 14th March to Monday 17th March (8pm on Friday - 6am on Monday).
Overnight Contraflow on the roundabout/Slip Road Closures
- Monday 17th March to Friday 28th March (8pm - 6am each night).
Work will be undertaken using a contraflow on Halbeath Roundabout and closures of all M90 slip roads at the roundabout.
Sanderling Way will be closed in both directions to the roundabout at Whimbrel Place during this phase. Access to Fife Leisure Park at Whimbrel Place will still be available.
Only east to west, and west to east, movements across Halbeath Roundabout will be maintained. Traffic will be able to travel on the A92 (both to and from the Crossgates direction) and the A907 (both to and from Halbeath in Dunfermline).
Road users are being asked to plan their journey in advance. Please refer to Amey’s website for diversion details in relation to the slip road and Sanderling Way closures.
Shuttle Bus
There will be a shuttle bus provided between Halbeath Road and Fife Leisure Park when the contraflow is in place. The shuttle bus will be in operation between the leisure park and the college bus stops on Halbeath Road. The shuttle bus will loop continuously during the following periods:
From 7.30pm on Friday 14th March to 12.15am on Monday 17th March – The shuttle bus will operate continuously.
Monday 17th March to Friday 28th March – The shuttle bus will operate at night only between 7.30pm and 12.15am.
