A90 Brechin | Contrafow and Lane Closures

Brechin
22nd of June 2025, 7:30pm to 14th of July 2025, 6:30am

Amey is undertaking site investigation work to assess the A90 carriageway and road infrastructure at Brechin from Sunday 22nd June to Monday 14th July.

The investigations, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will gather information about the condition of the road surface and road safety barriers.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the site investigations will take place under a contraflow followed by lane closures.

While the contraflow is in place, work will also be undertaken to complete routine maintenance at the site.

There will be lane closures and slip closures from 7.30pm on Sunday 22nd June to 6.30am on Monday 23rd June to set up the contraflow.

A contraflow will be in place from 6.30am on Monday 23rd June until 6.30am on Saturday 28th June.

The contraflow will be in place in two phases (being flipped to direct traffic onto opposing carriageways) with different A90 off/on slip closures at the A935 St. Ann’s junction and B966 Keithock junction during each phase.

Phase 1 slip closures – Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th June

The A935 St. Ann’s Junction northbound on slip to the A90 will be closed. Traffic will be diverted through Brechin to the B966 Keithock junction on slip for the A90, where they can access the A90 northbound.

The A90 northbound off slip to the B966 Keithock junction will also be closed. Traffic can exit the A90 northbound at the A935 St. Ann’s Junction and follow the route through Brechin to Keithock.

Phase 2 slip closures - Thursday 26th and Friday 27th June

The A90 northbound off and on slips at the B966 Keithock junction will both be closed. Traffic looking to access the A90 northbound will be directed to the A90 on slip at the A935 St. Ann’s Junction.

As phase one, traffic for the A90 northbound off slip at the B966 Keithock junction can exit the A90 northbound at the A935 St. Ann’s junction and follow the route through Brechin to Keithock.

The A90 southbound on slip at the B966 Keithock junction will be closed. Traffic can access the A90 southbound via the A935 St. Ann’s junction.

The A90 southbound off slip at the A935 St Ann’s junction will also be closed. A90 southbound traffic for Brechin can exit at the B966 Keithock junction southbound off slip.

There will then be lane closures on each carriageway between 6.30am on Saturday 28th June to 6.30am on Monday 14th July.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
