A83 Rest and Be Thankful | Open Under Convoy Control
This page has been archived. For information on live or future events and roadworks view our travel news.
The A83 at the Rest and Be Thankful re-opened to traffic at approximately 9.20pm this evening under convoy control.
This follows the closure of the road between the Rest and be Thankful Viewpoint (at its junction with the B828) and Ardgartan this afternoon, when the high winds associated with Storm Eowyn created a significant risk to traffic management operation at the site.
Over the early evening period, traffic management at the Rest and be Thankful was reinstated in preparation for road re-opening. However, storm debris identified elsewhere along the A83 also had to be cleared, and our teams have worked in challenging conditions through the evening to clear fallen trees between Inveraray and Cairndow and at Ardgartan.
Whilst the A83 is now open, Met Office amber and yellow warnings for wind and snow remain in place on Friday night for the area.
