Due to the poor weather forecast, Ardgenavan to Drishaig Improvements have been postponed until Sunday 24 November.
BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to undertake road surface improvements on the A83 between Ardgenavan and Drishaig, five miles east of Inveraray.
Starting on Sunday 17 November and finishing on the morning of Monday 25 November, the project will provide a better driving surface for road users, while also enhancing road safety.
To facilitate these improvements and ensure the safety of all road users, the A83 will be closed in both directions at the work site each night between 8pm and 5am.
During road closures, traffic will be diverted along an alternative route via the A82, A85 and the A819.
Timed access will also be provided at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 1am and 3am to allow road users to pass through the site safely. Motorists are encouraged to arrive prior to these times to ensure they are accommodated within the amnesty periods.
There will be no works on Friday or Saturday nights. The road will reopen outwith working hours however, due to the temporary road surface, speed restrictions will be in place.
Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained for the full duration of the works.
BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, Ian Stewart, said, “This resurfacing work on the A83 will address road defects and enhance driving conditions. The road closure is necessary for the safety of both workers and road users, and we aim to keep disruption to a minimum by conducting the work overnight.
“We are grateful to the local community and road users for their patience. Please check the Traffic Scotland website for the latest travel updates before embarking on your journey.”
