A8 Newhouse Roundabout & Eurocentral | Westbound Overnight Closure

Road users are advised that the A8 westbound carriageway between Newhouse Roundabout and Eurocentral Junction south roundabout will be closed for one overnight between 8pm and 6am the following day, on the date outlined below:

• Monday 07 July 2025 (1 night)

As a result, the following slip and link roads will also be closed:

• M8 westbound Junction 6 Newhouse Link Road to A8 westbound for Eurocentral & Coatbridge

• A8 westbound Junction 6 Newhouse on slip road for A8 westbound for Eurocentral & Coatbridge (M8 & M74)

• M8 westbound Junction 6A Chapelhall on slip road

• Link Road from B799 Bo’Ness Road South roundabout to A8 Chapelhall South roundabout

• Link Road between A8 Chapelhall North roundabout & Chapelhall South roundabout (Underpass below M8)

• A8 westbound carriageway between Chapelhall Junction South roundabout and Eurocentral Junction South roundabout

The closure is required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst carriageway surfacing works are undertaken. Works have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to road users.

Signed diversion routes will be in place as follows:

Diversion 1 - For A8 westbound closure at Newhouse Junction via M8 westbound Junction 6 Newhouse off slip road to roundabout, take 1st exit for A73 Bellside Road (South), A775 Edinburgh Road (West), B799 Bo’Ness Road to South roundabout, at Bo’Ness Road South roundabout take 1st exit for Eurocentral & McNeil Drive, Townhead Avenue and follow permanent signage for Maxim Business Park, A8 westbound Coatbridge or M8 westbound Junction 7 Eurocentral on slip road for Glasgow.

Diversion 2 – For the Link Road & Underpass closures at Chapelhall Junction and access to M8 & A8 westbound carriageways via B799 Bo’Ness Road to Bo’Ness Road South roundabout, take exit for Eurocentral and McNeil Drive and follow Diversion 1 above.

Diversion 3 - From M8 & A8 eastbound Chapelhall Junction North roundabout for Holytown & Motherwell via link road to B799 Bo’Ness Road North roundabout, continue B799 South to Bo’Ness Road South roundabout, take 2nd exit for B799 Bo’Ness Road and follow permanent signage for Holytown & Motherwell.

The diversion route will add an estimated 1.5 miles and 4 minutes to affected journeys on the A8 from Newhouse Junction.

Road users are encouraged to plan ahead and check Traffic Scotland’s website prior to travelling to check their route.

Access for active Emergency Service vehicles will be maintained.

The works will be carried out by Scottish Roads Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, North Lanarkshire Council and Police Scotland.
