A78 southbound in Stevenson | Essential Resurfacing

Pennyburn Roundabout and Dubbs Road
10th of September 2025, 8:00am to 12th of September 2025, 6:00am

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the southbound A78 in Stevenston, between Pennyburn Roundabout and Dubbs Road from Wednesday 10th September until Friday 12th September 2025 between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night.

This work will require two overnight closures of the southbound A78 carriageway in this location, as well as closures of the southbound off-slip at Eglinton and the B779/A78 junction. There will also be a lane closure on both the A738 and the A78 on Pennyburn Roundabout.

Southbound traffic will be directed to exit the A78 at Pennyburn Roundabout to take the first exit on to the A738 Stevenston Road and follow the A737 Howgate and A78 Eglinton Interchange. This diversion will take an additional 7 minutes.

Traffic for the B779 will pick up the above diversion at A737 Lauchlan Way.

Temporary traffic lights will also be in operation on Stevenston Road between Ashenyards Park and the Pennyburn Road Junction between 11pm on Thursday 11th September and 6am on Friday 12th September and all traffic management will be removed by 6am on Friday 12th September 2025.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the surface and condition of the carriageway in this location.

Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
