A725 Eastbound of Blantyre | Essential Resurfacing
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A725 at Blantyre, of the eastbound off-slip road to Whistleberry from 8pm on Wednesday 2nd July until 6am on Sunday 6th July 2025.
This work will require the closures of the A725 eastbound carriageway from the B7012 Main Street Junction, including the slip road, the A724 Glasgow Road on-slip and the A724 Industrial Estate on-slip as follows:
- Continuous closures between 8pm on Wednesday 2nd July and 6am on Friday 4th July
- Overnight closures between 8pm and 6am on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th July
Signed diversions will be in place as follows:
Traffic wishing to exit the eastbound A725 at the A724 will leave the carriageway at the B7012 Main Street junction, following onto High Blantyre Road and then turning left onto the A724 and continuing to Whistleberry Road.
A725 eastbound carriageway traffic will exit the eastbound A725 at the B7012 Main Street junction, following onto High Blantyre Road and continuing onto the A724 Burnbank Road before turning left onto the A72 Almada Street at Hamilton and then taking the first exit at the roundabout onto the B7071 Bothwell Road and continuing to rejoin the A725 at Raith Interchange.
Traffic wishing to join the A725 eastbound from the A724 slip roads will follow the A724 (via Whistleberry Road where applicable) to Hamilton and then follow the above diversion.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Traffic management will be removed by 6am on Sunday 6th July.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future. Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
