Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is set to install a new vehicle restraint system along the southbound verge of the A7, two miles south of Galashiels between The Hawthorns cottages and Boleside Road footpath.

The works will be carried out over four weeks, commencing on Monday 26 February.

To ensure the safety of workers and road workers, the A7 at Boleside will be restricted to a single lane controlled by temporary traffic lights 24 hours a day for the duration of these works.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders including local authorities and Police Scotland in advance of these works.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It’s necessary for safety to close one lane of the A7 at Boleside while we carry out these improvements.

“Temporary traffic lights will be in place, however we don’t expect this to cause significant delays. We’re grateful to road users and local communities for their patience and understanding.”

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
