Media Update

Works on the A828 near Ballachulish have been postponed tonight due to forecast inclement weather, Wednesday 28 February. Please see revised dates below:

Motorists using the A828 will benefit from an improved road surface as resurfacing works are set to take place from Thursday 22 February to Wednesday 6th March with no work taking place on Wednesday 28th February or at the weekend. This will be carried out between 7pm and 6am each night.

Outside of these hours, traffic management will be removed. However, a 30mph speed limit will remain in place, as traffic will be traveling over a temporary surface.

The improvements will make it more durable and resilient against inclement weather, as well as provide a safer road for users.

Due to restricted road widths through this section of the A828, the carriageway will be closed to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the traveling public. The A828 will therefore be closed in both directions each night. During periods of closure, amnesties at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm,11pm, 12am, 2am, 4am will allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site.

Emergency service vehicles will be allowed to pass through the site throughout the working period.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users. We thank motorists for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
