A83 Roadworks Closures with Amnesties

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, have been undertaking improvements on the A83 trunk road with works now complete north of Ballochroy.

To complete this surfacing programme a further night is required at Kilchenzie along with the rescheduling of the A83 North of Artilligan scheme. These surfacing works are now expected to conclude by 5am on Friday 19 April 2024, depending on weather conditions. No works to take place on Friday and Saturday nights.

Due to narrow carriageway widths and to ensure the safety of both the workforce and members of the public, the road will be closed in both directions at the work locations. As there is no suitable diversion route available, amnesty periods will be provided.

Please note, due to nature of works that remain at A83 South of Kilchenzie, the start time of this project has been delayed to 20:00hrs and amnesty times have been revised.

Outwith working hours the road will be reopened, however, driver awareness is encouraged as road users will be travelling over a temporary surface and a 30mph speed limit will be in place. Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times throughout the works.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said, “These enhancements to the A83 will replace the worn-out road surface and improve road users experience.  Our team will work hard to finish the job safely and quickly, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience. Before you start your journey, please check the Traffic Scotland website for the latest updates.”
