Extension of scheme dates
Issued: 14 March 2024

This scheme has been extended and is now scheduled to be completed by Friday 5th April.

The full closure of the A92 at Chapel Junction between the on and off slips for Kirkcaldy will now run from Monday 18th March to Friday 5th April.

The full closure will be in place 7 nights a week between 7.30pm to 6.30am.

Traffic will be diverted via the off and on slips to continue their journey on the A92.

Due to the impact of adverse weather conditions this scheme has been extended to Sunday 25th February.

Traffic management on site will remain the same.

Amey is undertaking a £1.5 million project improving road safety on nearly 1.7 miles of the A92 between Lochgelly and Kirkcaldy from Sunday 11th February to Friday 29th March.

The project will see improvements made to nearly 1.7 miles (2.7km) of the vehicle barrier restraint systems on the central reserve of the A92, from Cardenbarns Overbridge to east of Chapel Junction.

The work, which Amey is completing on behalf of Transport Scotland, will benefit more than 48,000 vehicles who use this route each day.

The work to upgrade the barrier restraint system will take place overnight between 8pm to 6am from Sunday to Thursday each week.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the improvements will be undertaken under two types of traffic management.

From Sunday 11th February the work will be undertaken under lane two closures of each carriageway between the Lochgelly junction and Chapel junction at Kirkcaldy. A convoy system will also be in operation between these points on lane one of each carriageway to escort traffic past the work area.

And from Monday 18th March to Friday 29th March there will also be a full closure of the A92 at Chapel Junction between the on and off slips for Kirkcaldy. Traffic will be diverted via the off and on slips to continue their journey on the A92.

Traffic management will be lifted each morning at 6am before being put back in place each night at 8pm.

Please note that all schemes are weather-dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are unfavourable.
