M90 Southbound Junction 3 Halbeath | Resurfacing Works
Overnight works to renew the road surface on the M90 southbound at Junction 3, Halbeath, are set to begin on the evening of Tuesday 15 September and continue until the morning of Tuesday 6 October.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the project.
For the safety of workers and road users during these works, the southbound carriageway of the M90 will be closed from Junction 3 to Junction 2 between 20:00 and 06:00 on the following nights:
Tuesday 15 to Friday 18 September
Monday 21 to Friday 25 September
Monday 28 September to Thursday 1 October
Monday 5 October.
Up until the morning of Wednesday 29 September, a diversion route suitable for trunk road traffic will be signposted from M90 Junction 3 via the A92 eastbound to turn at the A909 Cowdenbeath junction and return westbound to rejoin the M90 at Junction 2A. This diversion will add an estimated 5.4 miles and 6 minutes to affected journeys.
From the night of Wednesday 29 September onwards, the diversion route will direct traffic southbound from M90 Junction 3 via Sanderling Way, Sandpiper Drive, Lapwing Drive, Carnegie Avenue, Queensferry Road and the A823(M) to rejoin the M90 at Junction 2, adding an estimated 4.3 miles and 10 minutes to affected journeys.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements on the M90 southbound at Junction 3 will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes and cracks, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.
“It is essential for safety that we close the carriageway during these works, however we’ve scheduled them to be carried out during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.
“We thank road users in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”
All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
