M90 Southbound Between Junctions 2 & 1B | Resurfacing
Overnight works to renew the road surface on the M90 southbound carriageway between Junctions 2 and 1B are set to begin on Tuesday 16 June.
Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, will carry out the project on Monday to Friday nights between 20:00 and 06:00. Works will begin on the night of Tuesday 16 June and finish on the night of Monday 13 July.
For the safety of workers and road users, the southbound carriageway of the M90 will be closed between Junctions 2 and 1B each night during the works.
A diversion route suitable for trunk road traffic will be signposted from M90 Junction 2 Masterton, via the A823(M), the B980 King’s Road, Castle Road, Millennium Avenue, Barham Road and Milne Road, to rejoin the M90 at Junction 1B Ferrytoll. This diversion will add an estimated 2.8 miles and 8 minutes to affected journeys.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements on the M90 between Junctions 2 and 1B will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes and cracks, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.
“It is essential for safety that we close the carriageway during these works, however we’ve scheduled them to be carried out during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.
“We thank road users in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”
