M90 Northbound North of Glenfarg | Overnight Resurfacing

M90 Northbound North of Glenfarg
31st of August 2026, 7:30pm to 11th of September 2026, 6:30am
M90 Balmanno to Dron

Amey is carrying out overnight surfacing improvements on the M90 northbound between Balmanno Hill and Dron from Monday 31st August to Thursday 10th September.

The £360,000 project, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will resurface approximately 1,000 metres of the M90 northbound carriageway.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the essential works will be carried out under overnight closures of the M90 northbound carriageway on weekdays between 7.30pm and 6.30am.

The following diversion will be in place:

Traffic will leave the M90 at Junction 8, follow the A91, turn left at Gateside onto the A912 and continuing to rejoin the M90 at Junction 9.

Please be aware that the diversion route may add up to 7 minutes additional journey time.

As indicated previously, this work continues a series of important improvements to the M90 to help ensure that the trunk road network in the North-East of Scotland remains safe and reliable for future generations. These works will create a smoother ride for more than 5,000 road users who use the route each day and reduce the need for ongoing maintenance intervention.

More information on our ongoing work to improve the M90, including answers to frequently asked questions, can be found on our website at M90 Works - What's Happening And Why

All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
