M90 Junctions 1C and 2 | Overnight Works

M90 Junctions 1C and 2
29th of September 2025, 8:00pm to 17th of October 2025, 6:00am

A series of overnight slip road closures at M90 Junctions 1C and 2 is planned, to allow BEAR Scotland to carry out landscaping works, bridge investigation works, and a variety of cyclic maintenance tasks.

The closures will take place on Monday to Friday nights from 29 September until 17 October, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 each night:

On the nights of 29 and 30 September, the M90 Junction 2 southbound off-slip will be closed, with traffic diverted onwards to turn at Junction 1C Admiralty, return northbound and exit via the Junction 2 northbound off-slip (adding approximately 0.9 miles and 1 minute to affected journeys).

On the nights of 1-3 and 6-8 October, the M90 Junction 2 southbound on-slip and the M90 Junction 1C off-slip will be closed, with traffic joining the M90 from the A823(M) diverted north to turn at Junction 3 Halbeath and return southbound (adding approximately 6 miles and 6 minutes to affected journeys). M90 traffic wishing to exit at Junction 1C will be diverted onwards to turn at Junction 1B and return north to exit via the Junction 1C northbound off-slip (adding approximately 2.5 miles and 4 minutes to affected journeys).

On the nights of 9, 10 and 13-17 October, the M90 Junction 2 northbound off-slip will be closed, with traffic diverted onwards to turn at Junction 3 Halbeath and return southbound to exit via the Junction 2 southbound off-slip (adding approximately 6.5 miles and 8 minutes to affected journeys). The M90 Junction 1C northbound on-slip will also be closed, with traffic diverted south to turn at Junction 1B Ferrytoll and join the M90 northbound (adding approximately 2.4 miles and 3 minutes to affected journeys).

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network manager, said: “It is essential for safety that we close these slip roads while works to remove potentially hazardous trees take place.

“We’ll also use these closures to carry out bridge investigation works, grass cutting and other cyclic maintenance tasks.

“We understand that this will be disruptive however we have planned the works to take place at night when traffic flows are lower to reduce the impact.

“The nature of the works will result in a slight increase in noise levels and we apologise in advance for the inconvenience this may cause.

“We thank road users and the local community for their patience and understanding.”

All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
