M90 Junction 2 Bridge Works | Additional Slip Road Closures

Masterton
14th of July 2026, 8:00pm to 31st of July 2026, 6:00am

Bridge works at M90 Junction 2 will continue until late August, with a temporary reduced speed limit through the junction and a series of overnight slip road closures confirmed for the month of July.

The major project to refurbish Masterton Viaduct, which carries the motorway at Junction 2, has been under way since November 2025.

Closures of the M90 Junction 2 southbound off-slip are planned between 20:00 and 06:00 on the nights of 14 to 17 July, and 27 to 31 July.

During these closures, a diversion will be signposted via the M90 southbound to turn at Junction 1C and return northbound to exit via the Junction 2 northbound off-slip. This will add approximately one minute and one mile to affected journeys.

Various overnight lane closures will also be in place, and the hard shoulders in both directions will remain closed at all times.

David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Bridges Manager, said: “Ongoing works to upgrade the bridge’s parapets require continuing traffic restrictions through the month of July, including a reduced speed limit of 40mph to protect workers and motorists.

“We’re grateful to road users for their understanding and cooperation. Our people may not be visible at the roadside, but please be aware they are working just out of sight on the sides of the bridge on dayshifts and nightshifts.”

All works are weather dependent on the weather and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
