M90 Junction 1A | Resurfacing and Road Marking Works
The southbound carriageway of the M90 motorway will be closed for resurfacing and road marking works from M90 Junction 1A (Queensferry) to M9 Junction 1A (Kirkliston). between 20:00 and 06:00 on the nights of 7 to 10 September
The road surface will be renewed on the M9 Junction 1A westbound on-slip, and road markings will be refreshed along the M90 southbound.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the project.
During these works there will be no access to the M9 eastbound or westbound from the M90 and the following diversion routes suitable for trunk road traffic will be signposted:
Eastbound traffic will be directed from M90 Junction 1A to Newbridge Roundabout, via the A904, Echline Junction, A9000, A90, Queensferry Road, A902 Maybury Road, Gogar Roundabout and A8 Glasgow Road. This will add an estimated 5 miles and 10 minutes to affected journeys.
- Westbound traffic will be directed from M90 Junction 1A to M9 Junction 2, via the A904 and B8046, a journey of approximately 4.6 miles and 6 minutes.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements on the slip road onto the M9 will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes and cracks. Road marking refreshment works will improve the visibility of white lines and road studs, creating safer journeys for motorists.
“It is essential for safety that we close the carriageway during these works, however we’ve scheduled them to be carried out during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.
“We thank road users in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”
