M90 Between Junctions 9 and 10 | Safety Improvements

The M90 in Perth and Kinross is set to benefit from a £1.75 million investment that will deliver safety improvements to the northbound and southbound carriageways between Junction 9 and Junction 10.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking works to upgrade the safety barrier within the central reserve, delivering improved protection for more than 32,000 road users who use this route each day.

The essential maintenance will take place between Sunday 6th September and Wednesday 9th December.

The work will also include the construction of a new 91 metre crossover, which allow vehicles to safely cross from one carriageway to another during traffic management, alongside major drainage upgrades within the central reserve to improve surface water management and enhance the long-term resilience of the route.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the work is scheduled to take place under the following traffic management with temporary 50mph speed restriction in places during each phase:

Sunday 6th & Monday 7th September; Sunday 18th & Monday 19th October; Monday 7th & Tuesday 8th December

Traffic will be diverted onto the hard shoulder on both the northbound and southbound carriageways between Junction 9 and Junction 10, with both lane 1 and lane 2 closed.
Works will take place between 7.30pm and 6:30am each night.

Tuesday 8th September to Sunday 18th October

Overnight lane 2 restrictions on both northbound and southbound carriageways between Junction 9 and north of Bridge of Earn.
Works will take place between 7:30pm and 6:30am each night.

Sunday 11th October to Monday 7th December

A 24/7 lane 2 restriction on both northbound and southbound carriageways from north of Bridge of Earn to Junction 10.
As indicated previously, this work continues a series of important improvements to the M90 to help ensure that the trunk road network in the North-East of Scotland remains safe and reliable for future generations.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of these works, it is likely that there will be an increase in noise levels during nightshift hours. Amey is working to programme operations to minimise any disturbance as much as possible.
