M90 Between Junction 1B and 1C | Resurfacing Works

M90 Junction 1B-1C
14th of January 2026, 8:00pm to 6th of February 2026, 6:00am

Overnight works to renew the road surface on the northbound M90 between Junctions 1B, Ferrytoll, and 1C, Admiralty, are set to begin on Wednesday 14 January.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the works at two locations, with overnight carriageway closures and daytime slip road closures in place for the safety of motorists and the workforce:

M90 northbound carriageway, Junctions 1B to 1C:

The M90 northbound carriageway will be fully closed between Junctions 1B and 1C from 20:00 until 06:00 on Monday to Friday nights only, beginning on the night of Wednesday 14 January and concluding on the morning of Saturday 7 February.

A diversion route for northbound traffic on the M90 will be signposted from Junction 1B to Junction 1C via Milne Road, Millenium Avenue, Castle Road and the A985 Admiralty Road. This will add approximately 2.1 miles and 7 minutes to affected journeys.

M90 Junction 1C northbound off-slip:

From 06:00 on Tuesday 3 February until 06:00 on Friday 6 February, a continuous day and night closure of the Junction 1C northbound off-slip will also be in place.

When the M90 northbound is open during the daytime, a diversion route for traffic wishing to exit at Junction 1C will be signposted via the M90 northbound to exit at Junction 2, Masterton, following the A823(M) westbound to turn at Pitreavie Roundabout and return eastbound to join the M90 southbound and exit via the Junction 1C southbound off-slip. This will add approximately 2.3 miles and 5 minutes to affected journeys.

Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements on the M90 will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes and cracks, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.

“It is essential for safety that we close the carriageway during these works. We’ve scheduled works on the main carriageway to be carried out during overnight hours to minimise any disruption, however due to the depth of construction required on the Junction 1C northbound off-slip, these works require a continuous day and night closure.

“If you need to use this route during the works, please plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion.

“We thank road users in advance for their patience and understanding.”

All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
