M90 between Glenfarg and Craigend | Essential Woodland Managment
Amey is undertaking the essential removal of dangerous and diseased trees on the M90 between Glenfarg and Craigend until Tuesday 3rd February.
The essential woodland management, which Amey is carrying out on behalf of Transport Scotland, will combat the effects of Ash Dieback along the north east trunk road network.
This work will help improve the safety of the M90 carriageway by reducing the risk that the diseased trees pose to road users.
Once the Ash Dieback fungus infects a tree, the dead or dying branches can become brittle and fall. The trees then pose a risk of collapsing, presenting an immediate danger to the surrounding area.
In these cases they need to be managed carefully and sometimes removed, especially near roads, paths or buildings.
Work is scheduled to take place under a programme of daytime (9.30am to 3.30pm) and nighttime (7.30pm to 6.30am) lane restrictions and slip closures as follows:
- Friday 16th January (Daytime): Lane 1 restrictions on the M90 northbound at Balmanno.
- Monday 19th (Daytime): Lane 1 restrictions on the M90 northbound at Balmanno.
Wednesday 21st to Friday 23rd January (Daytime): Lane 1 restrictions on the M90 northbound between Bridge of
Earn and Craigend.
- Monday 26th to Wednesday 28th January (Night): Near‑side lane restrictions on the M90 southbound at Bridge of Earn.
- Monday 26th and Tuesday 27thJanuary (Night): M90 Junction 9 southbound off‑slip closure at Bridge of Earn.
Diversion due to off slip Closure: Traffic will be diverted southbound to M90 Junction 7, where traffic can turn to rejoin the M90 northbound and exit at the M90 junction 9 northbound off slip.
- Wednesday 28th January (Night): Southbound lane 2 restriction at the M90 Junction 9 southbound on‑slip at Bridge of Earn.
- Wednesday 28th to Friday 30th January (Night): Three‑way temporary traffic lights on the A912 near the Bridge of Earn southbound on‑slip.
- Thursday 29th January to Tuesday 3rd February (Night): Lane 1 restriction on the M90 northbound at Bridge of Earn.
Thursday 29th and Friday 30th January (Night): M90 Junction 9 northbound off‑slip closure at Bridge of Earn.
Diversion due to northbound off- slip Closure: Traffic will be diverted to M90 Junction 11 where they can turn to rejoin the M90 southbound and exit at the M90 Junction 9 southbound off‑slip.- Friday 30th January – Tuesday 3rd February (Night): M90 Junction 9 northbound on‑slip closure at Bridge of Earn.
Diversion due to northbound on slip Closure: Traffic will be diverted via the M90 southbound on‑slip at Junction 9 to Junction 7 on the M90, where traffic can turn to access the M90 northbound.
The work will benefit more than 32,200 vehicles who use this route each day.
