M9 Northbound Between Junctions 7 and 11 | Road Marking Improvements

Overnight carriageway closures for road marking improvements will be in place on the M9 motorway between Junctions 7 and 11 for ten nights beginning on Monday 10 August.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the works, renewing a total of 21.1 kilometres of road markings and studs to improve visibility and create safer journeys for motorists using this section of the motorway.

These works will be carried out under three separate road closures:

On the nights of 10, 11 and 12 August between 19:30 and 06:00, the M9 northbound will be closed from Junction 7 to Junction 8. A signed diversion route will be in place via the M876 to Junction 3 (Bowtrees), the A905, A88 (Bellsdyke Rd), A9 (Stirling Rd) and A91, rejoining the M9 at Junction 9.

On the nights of 13, 14 and 17 August between 19:30 and 06:00, the M9 northbound will be closed from Junctions 8 to 9. A signed diversion route will be in place directing affected motorists along the M876 to Junction 2, then the A9 (Stirling Rd) and A91, returning to the M9 at Junction 9.

On the nights of 18 to 21 August between 19:30 and 06:00, the M9 northbound will be closed from Junction 9 to Junction 11. A signed diversion route will be in place via the A91, A907 (Alloa Rd) and A9 (Airthrey Rd) to Keir Roundabout.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South-East Network Manager, said: "It is essential for safety that we close these sections of carriageway while road marking improvements take place.

“We’ve scheduled the works at night to minimise disruption, however we appreciate that this will cause delays for some people and thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding."

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
