M9 Junction 1A Southbound On-slip | Investigation Works

15th of October 2026, 10:00pm to 16th of October 2026, 6:00am

The slip road from the M90 onto the M9 southbound at Junction 1A (Kirkliston) will be closed from 22:00 until 06:00 on the night of Thursday 15 October, to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to carry out investigation works to assess the condition of the carriageway.

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place, directing traffic via the M9 northbound to turn at Junction 1B and then return southbound. This will add approximately four minutes and 4.1 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These investigation works will allow us to assess the condition of the slip road in advance of future resurfacing.

“If you need to use this route on Thursday night, our advice is to plan ahead and allow a few extra minutes for your journey.

“We’re grateful to road users for their understanding.”
