M9 Junction 1 | Overnight Bridge Repairs

Emergency works to replace damaged bridge joints on the bridge carrying the M9 over the River Almond near Newbridge between Junctions 1a and 1 are set to take place on the nights of Monday 27, Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 July.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the project, which will require overnight closures of the M9 southbound carriageway between 20:30 and 06:00 each night.

Traffic will be diverted along the slip road to Newbridge Roundabout and then immediately back onto the main carriageway, adding approximately two minutes to affected journeys.  

Overnight closures of the southbound slip road onto Newbridge Roundabout will also be required, on future dates to be confirmed.

David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “This programme of repair is key to ensuring the structural integrity of this bridge.

“The works have been planned to minimise disruption to road users as far as possible, however full closures of the road are unavoidable.  These will be limited to overnight hours to minimise any disruption.”
