M876 Northbound From M80 Junction 8 Bankhead | Barrier Replacements
The northbound carriageway of the M876 motorway will be closed from M80 Junction 8 (Bankhead) between 19:30 and 06:00 on the night of Friday 17 July.
The closure is necessary for the ongoing replacement of safety barriers associated with recent gantry replacement works being carried out by Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland.
A diversion route will be signposted via the M80 northbound to Junction 9 (Pirnhall Interchange), and then the M9 southbound to Junction 7 (Kinnaird House), where motorists can either continue south on the M9 or join the M876 eastbound to Junction 3 (Bowtrees), from where they can return westbound if desired. The diversion to M9 Junction 7 will add approximately 5.4 miles and 6 minutes to affected journeys.
David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “Major works on the M80 are nearing completion and one further northbound carriageway closure is required, on the M876 where it diverges from the M80.
“We’ll do this at night to minimise disruption, however our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion if you do need to travel northbound on the M876 this Friday night.”
All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
