M876 Junction 2 Eastbound On-Slip | Investigation Works

M876 Junction 2
13th of August 2026, 7:30pm to 15th of August 2026, 6:00am

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out essential coring investigation works on the M876 Junction 2 eastbound on-slip on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 August.

The on-slip will be closed between 7:30pm and 6:00am on both nights while engineers carry out investigations of approximately 1,200 metres of carriageway, in preparation for future resurfacing works.

To ensure the safety of road users and the workforce, a signed diversion route will be in place throughout the closures. Road users will be directed via the A9 (Stirling Road), A88 (Bellsdyke Road) and A905 before rejoining the M876 eastbound at Junction 3. Traffic looking to access the M9 southbound should rejoin the M876 westbound at Junction 3 before exiting onto the M9 southbound at Junction 7.

The diversion is expected to add approximately one mile and four minutes to affected journeys.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times throughout the works.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders in advance to make them aware of the project.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South East Network Manager, said: "Closing the M876 Junction 2 eastbound on-slip is essential to ensure the safety of both road users and our workforce during these coring investigation works. The information collected will enable our engineers to design the most appropriate resurfacing solution.

"We've planned the works overnight to minimise disruption as much as possible. However, we understand this may still cause inconvenience for some road users and thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding.

"If you need to use this route during the works, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion."

All works are weather dependent and may be postponed, cancelled or rescheduled in the event of adverse conditions.
