M80 Between Junctions 3 and 2 | Overnight Drainage Works
Essential overnight drainage works are due to be undertaken for four nights on the M80 between Junctions 3 and 2 from Monday 20 April 2026.
The works will take place between 20:00 and 06:00 each night, completing on the morning of 24 April 2026.
To ensure the safety of all road users, the M80 southbound carriageway will be closed between Junction 3 and Junction 2 during working hours. A lane closure will also be in place on the M80 northbound between Junction 2 and Junction 3. All traffic management will be removed outside of working hours.
A signed diversion route for southbound traffic will be in place via the A806, Crowwood Roundabout, A80 Cumbernauld Road, Royston Road and B765 Robroyston Road, rejoining the M80 at Junction 2, adding approximately 2.5 miles/10 minutes to journeys.
Paul Brown, Highway Management (Scotland) Limited General Manager, said: “These essential drainage works will help ensure the M80 continues to operate safely for road users by maintaining the effectiveness of the drainage system.
“To protect our workforce and road users, it is necessary to implement a full southbound carriageway closure alongside a northbound lane restriction during the works. We have scheduled these works overnight to minimise disruption.
“We thank road users for their patience and encourage them to plan ahead before travelling.”
All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions. Emergency services will be able to access the works at all times.
