Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking a package of essential overnight maintenance on the westbound M8 between Junctions 16 (Craighall) and 18 (Charing X) which will be carried out in multiple phases throughout 2024.

The next phase of the westbound works will take place from Sunday 8th September until Friday 25th October 2024, from 10pm until 6am, each night, excluding Friday nights and Saturdays to minimise disruption. A signed diversion route will be in operation.

This scheme is to enable the next phase of works of the M8 Woodside Viaducts Junctions 16-17.

Westbound Mainline Traffic Diversion

Traffic will be taken off at junction 16 (Craighall) onto Dobbie’s Loan westbound. Traffic will follow the diversion onto Garscube Road southbound and onto West Graham Street westbound where they will rejoin the motorway at junction 17 (West Graham Street).

Westbound Junction 15 Loop On from Southbound A803 Diversion

Junction 15 loop on traffic will be diverted southbound on the A803 onto southbound Castle Street for westbound Cathedral Street. Traffic will then follow the diversion onto North Hanover Street and onto Cowcaddens Road westbound to join the mainline diversion at West Graham Street westbound.

Access for emergency service vehicles will not be maintained throughout these works.

Please Note: Closure timings have been co-ordinated with bus services using the route, to maintain the regular service.

Please plan your journey and allow extra time for travel through the signed diversion.

PLEASE NOTE: Vehicles entering the LEZ as part of the diversion must follow the diversion signage at all times. Any vehicles which deviate from the published diversion route may be issued with penalty charge notice(s) from Glasgow City Council should they be captured out with the agreed diversion route.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
