M8 Westbound Between Junctions 10 and 12 | Essential Resurfacing

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the M8 westbound between Junctions 10 (Easterhouse) and 12 (Riddrie) from Monday 12th January until Saturday 24th January 2026 in five phases.

Phase 1: 8pm on Monday 12th January – 6am on Tuesday 13th January

This phase of work will require a single overnight closure on the M8 westbound between Junctions 10 and 11 as well as closures of the Junction 10 westbound on slip and the Junction 11 westbound off slip.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 10 on slip will be directed to follow Bartiebeith Road, A8 Edinburgh Road and B765 Stepps Road to join the M8 westbound at Junction 11. Expected delays up to 4 minutes.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 11 off slip will continue to the Junction 10 off slip and follow the above diversion. Expected delays up to 4 minutes.

This work will also require an overnight lane closure on the M8 westbound between Junctions 10 and 11.

Phase 2: Tuesday 13th January until Thursday 15th January, 9pm-6am each night.

This phase of work will require overnight closures of the M8 westbound carriageway between Junctions 10 and 11, the Junction 10 westbound on slip and the Junction 11 off slip.

Westbound M8 traffic will exit the M8 westbound at the Junction 10 off slip and will be directed to follow Bartiebeith Road, A8 Edinburgh Road and B765 Stepps Road to join the M8 westbound at Junction 11. Expected delays up to 4 minutes.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 10 on slip will be directed to Bartiebeith Road and follow the above diversion. Expected delays up to 4 minutes.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 11 off slip will continue to the Junction 10 off slip and follow the above diversion. Expected delays up to 4 minutes.

This work will also require overnight lane closures on the M8 westbound between Junctions 9 and 10 and Junctions 11 and 12 between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night.

On Wednesday 14th January and Thursday 15th January, overnight lane closures will be in operation on the M8 eastbound between Junctions 12 and 11 between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night.

Phase 3: Friday 16th January and Sunday 18th January, 9pm-6am each night.

This phase of work will require overnight closures of the M8 westbound between Junctions 10 and 12, the Junction 10 westbound on slip, the Junction 11 westbound on slip and the Junction 12 westbound off slip.

Westbound M8 traffic will be directed to exit the M8 at the Junction 10 off slip to Bartiebeith Road and follow A8 Edinburgh Road, A8 Cumbernauld Road, A8 Alexandra Parade and Alexandra Park Street to join the M8 westbound at the Junction 14 on slip. Expected delays up to 8 minutes.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 10 on slip will be directed to follow Bartiebeith Road, A8 Edinburgh Road and B765 Stepps Road to join the M8 westbound at Junction 11. Expected delays up to 8 minutes.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 11 off slip will be directed to exit the M8 at Junction 10 off slip and follow the above diversion. Expected delays up to 4 minutes.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 11 on slip will be directed to follow the B765 Stepps Road, B765 Gartloch Road, A80 Cumbernauld Road to join the M8 westbound at Junction 12. Expected delays up to 4 minutes. 
  
Traffic wishing to use the Junction 12 westbound off slip will be directed to exit the M8 at the Junction 10 off slip to Bartiebeith Road and follow A8 Edinburgh Road, B765 Stepps Road, B765 Gartloch Road and A80 Cumbernauld Road to join the M8 at Junction 12. Expected delays up to 8 minutes.

Overnight lane closures on the M8 westbound between Junctions 9 and 10 will also be in operation between 8pm and 6am.

Phase 4: 6am on Saturday 17th January until 9pm on Sunday 18th January.

This phase of work will require a 2:2 contraflow system between the M8 Junction 10 westbound off slip and the M8 Junction 12 off slip. This work will also require a single overnight closure of the Junction 10 westbound on slip, the Junction 11 westbound on and off slip and the Junction 12 westbound off slip.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 10 on slip will be directed to follow Bartiebeith Road, A8 Edinburgh Road, A8 Cumbernauld Road, A8 Alexandra Parade, Alexandra Park Street, to join the M8 westbound at Junction 14. Expected delays up to 8 minutes.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 11 off slip will continue to the Junction 10 off slip to follow Bartiebeith Road, A8 Cumbernauld B765 Stepps Rd to join the M8 westbound at Junction 11. Expected delays up to 4 minutes.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 11 westbound on slip will be directed to follow the B76 Stepps Road, the B765 Gartloch Road and the A80 Cumbernauld Road to join the M8 westbound at the Junction 12 on slip. Expected delays up to 4 minutes.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 12 westbound off slip will be directed to exit the M8 at the Junction 10 off slip to Bartiebeith Road and follow A8 Edinburgh Road, B765 Stepps Road, B765 Gartloch Road and A80 Cumbernauld Road to join the M8 at Junction 12. Expected delays up to 8 minutes.

Phase 5: Monday 19th January until Friday 23rd January, 9pm-6am each night.

This phase of work will require overnight closures of the M8 westbound between Junctions 10 and 12, the Junction 10 westbound on slip, the Junction 11 westbound on and off slips and the Junction 12 westbound off slip.

Westbound M8 traffic will be directed to exit the M8 at the Junction 10 off slip to Bartiebeith Road and follow A8 Edinburgh Road, A8 Cumbernauld Road, A8 Alexandra Parade and Alexandra Park Street to join the M8 westbound at the Junction 14 on slip. Expected delays up to 8 minutes.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 10 on slip will be directed to follow Bartiebeith Road, A8 Edinburgh Road, A8 Cumbernauld Road, A8 Alexandra Parade, Alexandra Park Street to join the M8 westbound at Junction 14. Expected delays up to 8 minutes.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 11 off slip will continue to the Junction 10 off slip to follow Bartiebeith Road, A8 Cumbernauld B765 Stepps Rd to join the M8 westbound at Junction 11. Expected delays up to 4 minutes.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 11 westbound on slip will be directed to follow the B76 Stepps Road, the B765 Gartloch Road and the A80 Cumbernauld Road to join the M8 westbound at the Junction 12 on slip. Expected delays up to 4 minutes.

Traffic wishing to use the Junction 12 westbound off slip will be directed to exit the M8 at the Junction 10 off slip to Bartiebeith Road and follow A8 Edinburgh Road, B765 Stepps Road, B765 Gartloch Road and A80 Cumbernauld Road to join the M8 at Junction 12. Expected delays up to 8 minutes.

Overnight lane closures on the M8 westbound between Junctions 9 and 10 will also be in operation between 8pm and 6am.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety and condition of the carriageway in this location.
