M8 St James Viaduct | Maintenance Works

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential maintenance works on the M8 at Junction 28A- A737 link (St James’ Viaduct) from Monday 9th March until Thursday 9th April 2026. 
 

Monday 9th March – Thursday 12th March: Overnight closures of the A737 eastbound slip to the M8 eastbound carriageway will be in place between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night. Traffic will be directed to continue on the A737 to St James’ Interchange, take the third exit and join the M8. During this time, single lane closures on the A737 eastbound slip to St James’ Interchange will also be in operation. 
 

Thursday 12th March – Friday 13th March: Overnight closures of the A726 eastbound off slip from St James’ Interchange will be in place between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night. Traffic will be diverted via the A737 southbound to Linclive Interchange and will be directed to follow Linwood Road, Ferguslie, George Street, Canal Street, Gordon Street, Mill Street, Weir Street and Old Sneddon Street. 
 

Monday 16th March – Wednesday 18th March: Overnight closures of the A737 eastbound slip to the M8 eastbound carriageway will be in place between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night. Traffic will be directed to continue on the A737 to St James’ Interchange, take the third exit and join the M8. 
 

Monday 16th March – Thursday 19th March and Monday 23rd March – Wednesday 25th March: single lane closures on the A737 westbound slip from St James’ Interchange will be in operation. 
 

Monday 16th March, Monday 23rd March and Thursday 26th March – Saturday 28th March: single lane closures on St James Interchange to St. Andrew's Drive Parkway will be in operation. 
 

Tuesday 17th March, Wednesday 25th March and Monday 30th March – Wednesday 1st April: single lane closures on Sanderling Road Parkway will be in operation. 
 

Monday 6th April – Thursday 9th April: Overnight closures of the A737 westbound slip from the M8 eastbound carriageway will be in place between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night. Traffic will be directed to exit at the Junction 29 off slip to St James’ Interchange and join the A737 southbound. 
 

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works. 
 

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable. 
 

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety and condition of the carriageway structures.
