M8 Prior to Hrathill | Resurfacing
The M8 westbound carriageway between Junctions 4A and 5 will be closed overnight for resurfacing works between 20:30 and 06:00 on four nights from Monday 19 October to Friday 23 October.
The project will be carried out by Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, and will involve renewing 1,900 metres of road surface on the M8 prior to Harthill.
A signed diversion route will be in place from M8 Junction 4A to Junction 5, via Balgornie Road the B7066 and the B7057. This will add approximately four minutes and no additional distance to affected journeys.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: "Closing the carriageway is essential to ensure the safety of both road users and our workforce during resurfacing.
"We’ve planned the works overnight to minimise disruption as much as possible. We thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding.”
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
