M8 Junction 4 East Whitburn Westbound | Resurfacing Works
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is set to resurface approximately 3 kilometres of the M8 westbound carriageway westbound at Junction 4, East Whitburn.
The westbound carriageway of the M8 between Junctions 3A and 4 will be closed between 20:30 and 06:00 on the nights of Wednesday 1 to Friday 3 April, Tuesday 7 to Friday 10 April, Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 April.
On these nights a signed diversion route for westbound traffic will be in place from Junction 3A, via Starlaw Road, the A7066 and A801, adding approximately 5 minutes and 1.7 miles to affected journeys.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South-East Network Manager, said: "It is essential for safety that we close the carriageway while resurfacing takes place.
“We’ve scheduled the works at night to minimise disruption, however we appreciate that this will cause delays for some people and thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding.
“If you need to use this route during the works, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion."
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
