M8 Junction 16 | Barrier Replacements
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential barrier replacements on the eastbound M8 at Junction 16 (Townhead) from Tuesday 26th May until Tuesday 23rd June 2026 between the hours of 10pm and 6am each night. No works will take place on Friday or Saturday nights.
Works programme as follows
There will be nighttime lane restrictions of lane 1 and 2 of the M8 Eastbound mainline between Craighall road underpass and Junction 15 from 10pm to 6am each night only, for the duration of the works.
Additionally, the M8 eastbound J16 on slip will be closed overnight from 10pm to 6am each night on the following dates:
Tuesday 26th & Wednesday 27th May
Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th & Thursday 18th June
Sunday 21st & Monday 22nd June
Traffic will be diverted via Dobbies loan, left on to Kyle Street, Baird Street, Castle Street and rejoin M8 EB via Jct 15 onslip.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety of the carriageway in this location.
