Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential bridge expansion joint replacements on the M8 at Junction 28, on the bridge that spans over the Glasgow Airport slip road. Work will commence on Monday 22nd September and run until Friday 26th September 2025, between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night.
To facilitate these works, total road closures will be required with signed diversions in place:
Total overnight closure of M8 Junction 29 eastbound (St James’ Interchange). Traffic will be diverted via A726 Greenock Road southbound, St James’ Street, Niddry Street, Renfrew Road and Arkleston Road to join the M8 eastbound at Junction 27.
Total overnight closure of M8 Junction 29 eastbound on-slip (St James’ Interchange). Traffic will follow the above diversion.
Total overnight closure of M8 Junction 28A eastbound on-slip from A737 northbound. Traffic will follow the above diversion.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving road safety and maintaining the structural integrity of the bridge.
Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
