M8 Eastbound Junction 4 | Drainage Survey

M8 Eastbound Junction 4
25th of September 2026, 8:30pm to 26th of September 2026, 6:00am

Overnight works to carry out a drainage survey on the M8 eastbound Junction 4 off-slip are planned for the night of Friday 25 September.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the project between 20:30 and 06:00.

For the safety of workers and road users, the slip road will be closed during these hours. Traffic wishing to exit the M8 eastbound at Junction 4 will be directed onwards to turn at M8 Junction 3A and return on the M8 westbound to exit via the Junction 4 westbound off-slip. This diversion will add an estimated 6.4 miles and 8 minutes to affected journeys.

Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “This drainage survey is key to ensuring the integrity of the surface water drainage system.

“A closure of the slip road is unavoidable, however this will be limited to overnight hours to minimise any disruption.”
