M8 Eastbound Junction 18 to 16 | Essential Maintenance

10th of April 2026, 10:00pm to 31st of May 2026, 6:00am

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential maintenance on the M8 Eastbound between junction 18 and 16.

Works will take place from Friday 10th April to Sunday 31st May 2026, with overnight closures from 10pm until 6am – excluding Friday and Saturday nights.

Overnight closures from 10pm – 6am will be required on the following weekends:

  • Friday 10th April – Sunday 12th April 2026

  • Friday 17th April – Sunday 19th April 2026

This is to enable the next phase of works of propping installations at the M8 Woodside Viaducts Junctions 16-17.

Signed diversion routes will be in operation.

Diversion:

  • Eastbound M8 traffic will be taken off the M8 at junction 18/17 St George’s Road to follow signs for northbound St George’s Road. Traffic will then travel southbound on the A81 Garscube Road for eastbound A804 Dobbie’s Loan before re-entering the M8 at eastbound junction 16 Craighall.
  • Eastbound on slips at junction 19 (Anderston) and junction 18 (Charing X) will also be closed with traffic directed to follow northbound A804 North Street to join the main diversion at St George’s Cross.

Access for emergency service vehicles will not be maintained throughout these works.
