M8 Eastbound Between Junctions 3A And 2 | Resurfacing Works

Junction 3A-2
4th of September 2026, 8:30pm to 10th of September 2026, 6:00am

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out essential resurfacing works on the M8 before Junction 3 eastbound. Works are scheduled to run from Friday 4 September to Thursday 10 September, between 8.30pm and 6am each night. No works will take place on Saturday and Sunday nights.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users, it will be necessary to close the M8 eastbound carriageway between Junctions 3A and 2 during working hours.

A signed diversion route will be in place from Junction 3A to Newbridge via the A89 eastbound. This diversion will add approximately 1.8 miles and 10 minutes to journey times.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times, and all traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements on the M8 will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes and cracks, creating safer journeys for motorists.

“It is essential for safety that we close the carriageway during these works; however, we’ve scheduled them to be carried out during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.

“We thank road users in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”

All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
