M8 Eastbound between Junction 5 and Harthill | Resurfacing
The eastbound carriageway of the M8 motorway between Junction 5 (Shotts Interchange) and Harthill Services will be closed for resurfacing on the nights of 10, 11, 12, 13 and 16 February between the hours of 20:30 and 06:00.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the works, renewing a total of 1.2 kilometres of surfacing to create smoother and safer journeys for motorists using this section of the motorway.
A signed diversion route for eastbound traffic will be in place, directing traffic from the M8 Junction 5 eastbound off-slip onto the B7057 and then the B7066 before returning to the M8 at Junction 4A. This diversion will add approximately 5 minutes and 0.6 miles to affected journeys.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South-East Network Manager, said: "It is essential for safety that we close the carriageway while resurfacing take place.
“We’ve scheduled the works at night to minimise disruption, however we appreciate that this will cause delays for some people and thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding.”
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
