M8 Eastbound Between Junction 16-17 | Essential Barrier Upgrades

M8 Junction 16-17
8th of March 2026, 8:30am to 4th of April 2026, 5:30pm

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential barrier upgrades on the M8 eastbound between Junctions 17 (Charing X) and 16 (Townhead) from Sunday 8th March until Saturday 04th April 2026.

This work will be undertaken with combination of daytime and nighttime working.

Daytime works
Permanent M8 eastbound lane 1 closure will be required from 8th March to 4th April with works undertaken Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm each day. This will involve extension of existing extents of Woodside Viaduct traffic management for works duration only.

Nighttime works
Additional overnight lane closures will be required on 8th to 12th March and 29th March to 4th April, 8pm to 6am each night only.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety of the carriageway in this location.

Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
