M74 Southbound at Junction 3 (Carmyle) | Essential Resurfacing
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the M74 southbound at Junction 3 (Carmyle), including the southbound on slip and the northbound off slip, from Friday 20th February until Saturday 28th February 2026.
Phase 1:
This work will require a full weekend closure of the southbound Junction 3 on slip from 8pm on Friday 20th February until 6am on Monday 23rd February. Traffic will be diverted via Carmyle Avenue and London Road to the Junction 2A on slip.
During this time, lane closures will be in operation on the southbound M74 between Junctions 2A and 3, as well as lane closures on the A74 London Road and Carmyle Avenue.
Phase 2:
The full weekend closure will be followed by a single overnight closure of the M74 southbound between Junctions 2A and 3, including the Junction 2A on slip and the Junction 3A off slip, from 8pm on Monday 23rd February until 6am on Tuesday 24th February.
Traffic will be diverted via the Junction 2A off slip and directed to follow Fullarton Interchange, A74 London Road, B7058 Mount Vernon Avenue, A89 Glasgow Road, Main Street, A8 Glasgow Road, A8 Edinburgh Road, Swinton Roundabout and Bailieston Roundabout to follow permanent signage.
During this time, a lane closure will be in operation on the southbound M74 between Junctions 2A and 2.
Phase 3:
Overnight closures of the northbound M74 Junction 3 off slip will then be in place from Tuesday 24th February until Friday 27th February.
Traffic will be directed to exit the M74 northbound at the Junction 2A off slip and will follow Fularton Road, Cambuslang Road, Clydesmill Road, Clydeford Road and Carmyle Avenue, where this diversion will end.
During this time, a lane closure will be in operation on the southbound M74 between Junctions 3A and 3, as well as a lane closure on Carmyle Avenue.
Phase 4:
A single overnight closure of the M74 southbound Junction 3 on slip will be in operation from 8pm on Friday 27th February until 6am on Saturday 28th February.
Traffic will be diverted via Carmyle Avenue and London Road to the Junction 2A on slip.Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety and condition of the carriageway in this location.
