M74 at Port Eglinton Viaduct | Essential Bridge Expansion Joint Replacements
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential bridge expansion joint replacements on the M74 at Port Eglinton Viaduct over three nights from 8pm on Monday 9th March until 6am on Thursday 12th March 2026.
This work requires three total overnight closures at this location with a signed diversion route in operation. Traffic intending to travel on the Port Eglinton Viaduct will be diverted at Polmadie Road to turn right onto Calder Street. From here, traffic will travel through Aitkenhead Road, Cathcart Road, Laurieston Road, Ballater Street, Norfolk Street, Nelson Street, Morrison Street, Patterson Street, Wallace Street, and Dalintober Street. Traffic will then take the M8 westbound Junction 12 on-slip road where diversion will end.
Traffic approaching the Port Eglinton Viaduct slip road to head north will be diverted at Polmadie Road onto New Rutherglen Road and Caledonia Road. At Cathcart Road, traffic will then follow the above diversion route to complete their journey.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving safety and the condition of the structure.
Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
