M74 Motherwell And Hamilton | SP Energy Overnight Roadworks

Scottish Power energy network and service partners PMK will be carrying out essential upgrades to the network between Motherwell and Hamilton.

The existing underground 33kV cables that directly supply many customers within these areas is approaching the end of their operation life.

We appreciate your patience and apologise for any inconvenience cause while these improvements are carried out.

The works are scheduled from 5th January until 2nd March 2026.

Works affecting slip roads 
15/01/2026 – 16/01/2026: M74 Southbound Junction 6 slip on from Motherwell to Southbound and Northbound fork. Road narrows for these works – No closure required.  

19/01/2026-21/01/2026: Road closure from 20:00-06:00 on the M74 Southbound Junction 6 slip off to Hamilton.

01/03/2025-02/03/2026: Road closure from 20:00-06:00 on the M74 Northbound Junction 6 slip from Hamilton  Northbound and Southbound  – closure of M74 Northbound and Southbound on slip.
