M74 Larkhall | Essential Joint Replacements
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential expansion joint replacements on the A72 overbridge over the M74 at Larkhall from Monday 24 August until Friday 4 September 2026, between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night.
This work will require overnight closures of the A72 Lanark Road overbridge, with traffic diverted via the southbound B7078, Canderside Toll and the A71 northbound. The southbound M74 Junction 7 off-slip (Lanark Road) will remain open throughout the works; however, a lane closure will be in place on the right-turn lane.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety and condition of the carriageway structure in this location.
Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
