M74 Junction 7 And 9 | Hard Shoulder Resurfacing

M74 Junction 7-9
21st of September 2025, 8:00pm to 4th of October 2025, 6:00am

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the southbound M74 between Junctions 7 and 9 from Sunday 21st September until Saturday 4th October 2025 between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night as follows: 
 

Sunday 21st September – Friday 26th September: Overnight closures of the southbound M74 between Junctions 7 and 9. This traffic management will be removed by 6am on Friday 26th September 2025.  
 

8pm on Tuesday 30th September6am on Wednesday 1st October: Overnight closure of the southbound M74 between Junctions 7 and 9. 
 

Wednesday 1st October – Saturday 4th October: Overnight closures of the northbound M74 between Junctions 7 and 9. This traffic management will be removed by 6am on Saturday 4th October 2025.  
 

Southbound traffic will be directed to exit the M74 at Junction 7 and follow the A72 and A71 to re-join the M74 at Junction 8. 
Northbound traffic will follow the above route in reverse. 
 

This diversion will add a further 5 minutes to journey times. 
 

This is the first of four phases of work in this location. Details of further phases will be available in due course. 
 

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works. 
 

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable. 
 

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety and condition of the carriageway surface in this location.
