UPDATE (04/02/25): Please see below abnormal load restrictions for the ongoing works at M74 Junction 10.
Abnormal load restrictions between Junction 11 and 9 during works Phase 1 & 2 (4th Feb to 16th Feb 2025) in the NB carriageway are as follows:
Loads wider than 3m with overhang height below 900mm are not permitted to go through the NB closure.
Loads wider than 3m with overhang height greater than 900mm will STOP at the holding point and follow protocol. Driver to contact traffic management team on the contact number provided at hold point. The TM team will check the load size and advise.
We are also advising the Hauliers of the Loads wider than 3m with overhang height greater than 900mm to email Amey to confirm load size to ensure load can pass through traffic management.
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the northbound M74 near Junction 11 (Poniel Interchange), including the northbound Junction 11 on-slip, on Friday 31st January and Saturday 1st February 2025 between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night. Traffic management will be removed by 6am on Sunday 2nd February.
This work will require overnight closures at this location and traffic will be diverted as follows:
- Northbound traffic will be directed to exit the carriageway at the Junction 12 off-slip, follow the B7078 and re-join the M74 northbound at Junction 10.
- Traffic wishing to use the northbound Junction 11 on-slip will be diverted via the B7078 Carlisle Road to join the M74 northbound at Junction 10.
This will complete works that began at this location in late 2024.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
