BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to carry out a coring investigation at the M8 Junction 4 westbound offslip on the night of Friday 22 September 2023.

To allow works to be carried out safely, the road will be closed from 20:30 until 06:00 on the night of 22 September.

During this period of closure, a signed diversion route will be in place diverting traffic via the M8 westbound carriageway to Junction 4A, where traffic will return eastbound on the M8 towards Junction 4, adding an estimated 4.3 miles and 6 minutes to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “This coring investigation works will allow us to assess the condition of the slip road on the M8 in advance of future resurfacing.

“We’re grateful to road users and the local community for their understanding.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
