Five Bridges on the A95 and A96 | Overnight Inspections

Amey is carrying out overnight inspections at five bridges on the A95 and A96 from Monday 17th August to Friday 21st August.

The inspections, which Amey is carrying out on behalf of Transport Scotland, are required to understand the current condition of the structures and help inform any future maintenance requirements.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, temporary traffic management will be required at each location. This will include temporary traffic lights on the A96, and overnight road closures on sections of the A95.

All works are scheduled to take place overnight between 7.30pm and 6.30am.

Planned bridge inspections

Monday 17th August – A96 Haughs Bridge and A96 Isla Bridge at Keith

Temporary traffic lights at each bridge.

The traffic management will be in place one bridge at a time, not both simultaneously.

Tuesday 18th August – A95 Bridge over the River Fiddich (near Craigellachie)

Overnight road closure

Diversion route:

A95 northbound traffic can continue north from the A95 onto the A941. At the north end of Rothes, traffic can take the third exit from the roundabout onto North Street/B9015, before turning right onto the B9103 and rejoining the A95 at Mulben. Traffic will then be diverted back to Craigellachie via the A95. Traffic looking to access the A95 southbound and Craigellachie can follow the route in reverse.

Wednesday 19th August – A95 bridge over the Burn of Advie

Overnight road closure

Diversion route:

A95 eastbound traffic travelling between Grantown-on-Spey and Congash will be diverted from the A95 onto the A939 (signposted for A939 Tomintoul/ A93 Braemar). Traffic can then continue on the A939 for approximately 13 miles through Tomintoul, before taking the B9008 to rejoin the A95 at Bridge of Avon. A95 westbound traffic can follow the route in reverse.

Thursday 20th August – A95 Bridge over the River Spey (near Grantown-On-Spey)

Overnight road closure

Diversion route:

A95 eastbound traffic will be diverted into Boat of Garten, using the main road through the village and crossing the bridge over the River Spey. Traffic will then turn left onto the B970 (towards Loch Garten/Nethy Bridge/Grantown-On-Spey) and continue for approximately eight miles before rejoining the A95 east of Spey Bridge. A95 westbound traffic can follow the route in reverse.
